OVERVIEW

The Anchor brings certainty, positivity, and strength. It’s the card of safety, security, and determination. It’s a heavy-weight object whose purpose is to secure in place, so it tells of stillness and immobility, suggesting that things should be built to last. The Anchor is solid and material in character so it makes things concrete and complete. With determination and perseverance, achievement and success are possible. But because of its association with discipline, it can represent self-imposed limitations, restriction, or rigidity.

IN THE PORTRAIT & GRAND TABLEAU

If it falls on the first or central card placement of the nine-card portrait, the Anchor answers a query positively and suggests that success is likely and within reach. If contemplating a particular course of action, the Anchor encourages us to go for it. However, if considering a change, like changing jobs, moving homes, or moving on from a relationship, then it’s best not to make the change just yet and give things more time instead. This said, in some combinations, the Anchor can suggest that we be decisive and move on without hesitation.

In the Grand Tableau, the Anchor near the significator is positive. Business, trade, and commercial transactions, bear fruit locally or internationally. Relationships are faithful and love grows deep. When far, poor judgment, unnecessary clinging, or an unwillingness to change, can lead to problems. Relationships can lack depth and seriousness.

ADVICE

The Anchor asks us to make things happen and move from thought to action. It demands seriousness, focus, and commitment, and asks us to be strong, persistent, and unwavering in the face of any situation. We must have confidence in our ability to move forward with purpose and achieve success.

Change is ill-advised under the Anchor. Instead we’re best staying put and postponing travel. In some combinations, and especially in a certain order of the cards, it can mean arriving, landing, and "dropping our anchor."

With negative cards, we must stand our ground and focus on overcoming obstacles. If we don’t waver or hesitate, we’re likely to come out victorious. The Anchor does not exacerbate negative cards and instead alleviates them with its protective qualities.
