OVERVIEW

The Rider is in fast motion and indicates news or feedback already on the way and that will arrive shortly. The news is usually positive but if not, at least it alleviates matters by clearing the air to help us move on. It can also represent a visitor coming our way, or us visiting someone. It indicates something new, something taking off, a journey started, new goals, positive developments, and inspiration to pursue our ambitions. It stirs up anything that had been stagnant in the same way that the Stork does, and gives us the green light to move ahead. Like the Clouds and Scythe, the Rider has inherent directionality because it’s often illustrated to face one direction or another.

IN THE PORTRAIT & GRAND TABLEAU

On the first or central card of the nine-card portrait, it tells of a new journey, project, or direction. The advice of the Rider is to set goals, start working towards them, and move forward with determination. In negative combinations, it suggests getting over the situation as quickly as possible, putting it behind us and moving forward with energy and enthusiasm. In all cases, the Rider strongly advises against procrastination and urges us to pick ourselves up and get going. In the central position, it can point to a messenger, and receiving news or help.

In the Grand Tableau, whether near or far from the significator, the Rider brings good news. But when it’s near it can imply someone’s assistance, typically a gentleman, and when far, it can suggest news coming from farther away, even abroad.

ADVICE

The Rider encourages us to have a sense of adventure and daring. We need to refresh our mindset, renew our enthusiasm, and breathe new life into our affairs. We should pick up the pace, speed up, and keep moving forward.

We’re on the right track, unless nearby cards suggest a change. But even if changes are needed, we can adjust as we forge ahead. It’s an active card, so no procrastinating!
